It took me a while to find a nice green vegan protein powder, but I finally have one I love; I’ve been using this vegan hemp protein by Purasana and I wanted to show you what it is, and how I use it, with a fun little smoothie recipe!
I bought this protein powder at Natuurhuis in Antwerp, but you can find it in quite a few (online) stores! They have a whole variety of flavors and types of powders but hemp powder is what I was looking for at the time. I’ve almost finished this entire can and I absolutely love using it in green smoothies to add a protein boost!
It’s a green powder that is quite grainy but it’s not as noticeable when you blend it, I always blend it so I don’t know how it tastes if you just shake it, I think it would be a bit grainy but it would work! I love this one much more than the Sun Warrior powder which actually tastes dry and grainy!
Every 100 grams of powder contain 50 grams of protein, which might not seem like a lot if you’re used to milk based powders, but it’s quite good for a vegan, natural powder. It also contains other great vitamins, minerals and fibre as well!
On the side of the can they’ve listed some benefits of the powder, the most important one being that it’s high in protein. But it’s also safe for children which is amazing if you have active kids that could use some more fibre and protein in their diets! It’s also organic which is amazing!
The way I love using this powder, is by making a big yummy green smoothie, and adding lots of other great nutrients, I never make the same recipe but today it was a really good one so I decided to share it with you!
Today’s smoothie contained:
* 1,5 scoop of hemp protein powder
* about 1 cup of almond milk (add as much as you need to make it liquid!)
* a chunk of cucumber
* a portion of frozen spinach
* 1/2 cup of fresh pineapple
* 1/2 tablespoon of super berry powder (you could use fresh berries!)
* 2 small kiwi’s
Hope you enjoyed this recipe and my vegan protein powder recommendation!
