Hey babes! I love taking care of my body with natural ingredients and one of the best ways to do that is simply by eating and drinking healthy things. An easy way to give your body a little extra health (and beauty!) boost is by drinking so called ‘detox‘ drinks that contain superfood ingredients that have all sorts of amazing benefits for your body. One of the most common health foods has to be lemon, it’ so cheap and widely available and it’s great for your body. Here are some of its benefits:

* Helps your digestive tract
* Aids in weight loss
* Source of vitamin C
* Soothes any throat issues or colds

But of course; only one ingredient isn’t enough, that’s why I’m sharing 3 drinks with lemon today, each with it’s own health qualities!

Lemon, Green Tea & Ginger infusion

How to make it: 
Start with brewing a cup of green tea in boiling water, you can use loose green tea or a tea bag. Add a little bit of finely grated ginger, you only need about a centimeter or two or a few grams which isn’t a lot. Then add lemon juice and let it steep for a while. This is best served hot but it can be great chilled as well. If you like sweet drinks you can add agave or honey.

Green Tea has proven to be a powerful antioxidant which basically means it protects the cells in your body, aiding in fighting off diseases. It can also help burn fat and help prevent obesity. There’s even studies that say green tea makes you live longer and decreases the risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. 

Ginger is a great nausea and indigestion cure, it also boosts your immunity and helps fight off bacterial infections as well as any inflammation.

When to drink it: 
I love this when I’m getting over a cold or any kind of sickness or if I’ve had a large meal or feel nauseous for any reason at all.

Lemon, Mint & Blueberry Water

How to make it: 
This is the easiest drink to make, just add fresh mint leaves, fresh or frozen blueberries and lemon juice or slices to cold, filtered water. You can smash some blueberries for more flavor. Don’t forget to rinse the lemon if you’re adding slices!

Mint is mostly known for it’s respiratory benefits like healing colds or asthma but it’s also great for your digestion and nausea or headaches. It can also make you happy and energetic and can even prevent or help heal depression!

Blueberries are an amazing anti oxidant, they contain lots of vitamins and nutrients such as vitamin C and K and fiber. Blueberries are a true super food, they boost your digestion, skin, brain and heart and can help fight off cancer. They also promote weight loss!

When to drink it: 
This is a great drink to bring to work or school, you can use an infusion bottle or even a regular water bottle. It’s fresh and it keeps you awake and hydrated all day.

Lemon, Turmeric, Cinnamon and Honey Booster. 

How to make it: 
Boil some water, add fresh lemon juice, a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of turmeric (or how much you want, more cinnamon softens the taste). Add honey to taste, if you think the turmeric is too strong, add more honey. You can let this steep for a little while but you always have to stir it again before drinking. I prefer it still hot!

Honey is a great source of energy, it can kickstart your day. It’s also an antioxidant and is great for healing colds or coughs. It can even alleviate your seasonal allergies!

Cinnamon is an antioxidant and anti inflammatory spice, it can fight infections and disease. It promotes a healthy heart.

Turmeric is super multi functional, it can treat fatigue, joint pain, heartburn and other stomach issues. It can boost your digestive tract, heal skin and even help with headaches, colds and infections. It has even been reported that it helps with IBS and depression!

When to drink it: 
This drink has a very strong taste, I like drinking this as a little wakeup ‘shot’ in the morning!

As a little disclaimer I wanted to add that these aren’t magic drinks that will fix health issues, if you have any concerning health issues please consult your physician. A varied diet is the key to a healthy life so I don’t recommend drinking any of these every single day, try different things!
